HILLSVILLE — The Carroll County Sheriff's Office located and confiscated 18 marijuana plants during a marijuana eradication Aug. 4, which led to several charges against a Cana man, according to Sheriff Warren Manning.

The plants had an estimated street value of $18,000.

Deputy Chuck Edwards spotted the marijuana plants from a Virginia National Guard helicopter brought in to assist the effort. Deputies also looked closer in the yard of Donald McMillian of Wards Gap Road in Cana, due to a plant there.
