INDEPENDENCE — An Independence dentist and a pharmacist were both indicted on drug charges by a Grayson County Circuit Court grand jury on Jan. 22.

Dr. Gordon Miniclier, 58, was indicted on eight charges including: assault on a law enforcement officer (Virginia State Police Special Agent Nicholas Ryan White); one count of distribution of a schedule IV controlled substance; two counts of distribution of a schedule II controlled substance and four counts of obtaining drugs by fraud, deceit or misrepresentation of material fact.

Nicholas James Arduin, 31, a pharmacist, was indicted on three counts of obtaining drugs by fraud, deceit or misrepresentation of material fact.

Miniclier, who operates a dental office on Main Street in Independence, and Arduin were charged last June following an investigation by the Virginia State Police.

Miniclier and Arduin waived their right to a preliminary hearing in Grayson County General District Court on Nov. 1 and Judge Randall Duncan bound their cases over for grand jury action.
