Two North Carolina men have been charged with drug distribution for allegedly selling drugs on school property in Carroll County.
Sheriff Warren Manning said deputies responded to Gladeville School around 1 a.m. on Dec. 23, in reference to a call about a vehicle sitting behind the school on Glendale Road.
Deputies Bobby Lyons and Barry Lineberry found two men sitting in the vehicle. After obtaining permission to search the 2002 Chrysler 300M, the deputies recovered two ounces of methamphetamine and a 9mm pistol.
Police also seized the vehicle and more than $1,000 in cash.
Manning said the meth had a street value of about $5,000.
Arrested were George Douglas Wright, 33, of Dobson, N.C., and Billy Gene Blevins Jr., 40, of Glade Valley, N.C. They are charged with distribution of meth, possession of a Schedule II drug while in possession of a firearm, possession of drugs and firearms on school property and trespassing on school property.
Wright and Blevins are being held without bond pending arraignment in Carroll County General District Court.
