HILLSVILLE ― Carroll County native Jonathan McGrady recently filed papers with the Carroll County Registrar’s Office to organize a campaign for 6th District House of Delegates.
McGrady plans to make an official announcement today, Monday, at 5 p.m. in the Carroll County Industrial Park at the old Parkdale Mills factory located at 565 Industrial Park Drive, Hillsville.
McGrady, 43, is an attorney and also operates a tree business on his family farm in Carroll County where he grew up and still resides.
His wife Jennifer is a former kindergarten teacher and current president of Hillsville Elementary School PTSO. They have three children: Molly, Jon and Sam.
McGrady is a member and former deacon of Hillsville Christian Church.
He is a member of Hillsville Masonic Lodge, Grayson Carroll Shrine Club, Galax Moose Lodge and Elks Lodge.
McGrady is a former president of Twin County Regional Chamber of Commerce and served on the New River/Mount Rogers Workforce Investment Board. McGrady was appointed in 2005 by Governor Mark Warner to represent private attorneys on the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services Board where he fought for five years to secure grant funding for school resource officer positions and police department grants in this area, according to a news release.
McGrady is also active in Cub Scout Pack 83 where he is a current den leader.
He is the son of Joe and Anne McGrady; grandson of Harry and Helen McGrady; and great-grandson of Clinton Webb, Grace Blankenship Webb, Herman McGrady, and Flora Frost McGrady.
