HILLSVILLE ― U.S. Marshals caught up with a 23-year-old Woodlawn man, who was wounded in an attempt to steal a car in Hillsville Jan. 9, after he was released from the hospital but not turned over to police custody.
Richard Austin Williams was found at his cousin's house in Smyrna, Dela., last Thursday, according to Hillsville police. Williams was shot when, after taking a test drive of a Chevrolet Impala in Hillsville, he allegedly attempted to steal the car.
The car owner and his brother struggled with Williams, police said, and the brother shot Williams.
