HILLSVILLE -- The 16th running of the Maroon Tide Invitational cross country meet drew the largest field in the history of the event as 20 teams and more than 320 runners in six divisions toed the line Wednesday at the Southwestern Virginia Training Center. Some paving work done on the wooded trail portion of the grounds brought about minor changes to the 3.1-mile course. Floyd County’s Austin Grubb and John Battle’s Mariah Arnold set the standards for the new layout, winning the varsity individual championships.
