NEW CASTLE -- Galax outscored Craig County a combined 63-17 in the first and third quarters and breezed to a 91-34 nondistrict win Friday night. Galax (3-1) bolted to a 35-9 lead in just eight minutes and widened the margin to 75-24 by the start of the fourth quarter. Justin Hash led all scorers with 23 points for the Maroon Tide, which knocked down 11 3-pointers as a team and also got double-digit scoring from Deion George (16 points), and Brock Cox (10). JV – Galax 70-16.   Grayson County 66, Patrick Henry 42: Jake Blizzard recorded a double double and the Blue Devils used a second-quarter surge to knock off the Rebels in a nondistrict boys’ game Friday. Blizzard scored a team-high 16 points to go with a dozen rebounds for the Blue Devils, who improved to 2-1 with the win. Grayson County led 21-18 after the first quarter before holding the Rebels to just two points in the second period,taking a 38-20 halftime lead. Bubba Bowen and Steven Eller scored 14 points apiece for the Blue Devils. The Falcons rallied to tie the game at 44 at the end of regulation, then outscored the Cavaliers 14-6 in the extra period to take the win. Abingdon’s Jacob Hess scored 20 of his game-high 28 points in the fourth quarter and overtime. Nathan Hess added 13 points for the Falcons. Leading 21-20 at intermission, the Cavaliers outscored the Falcons 25-9 in the second half. Kayla Goins led all scorers with 16 points for Carroll County, which improved to 4-0 on the year.
