FRIES — A Fries man is charged with hit-and-run after leaving the scene of a crash on March 3.
According to a report from the Grayson County Sheriff’s Department,  Deputy Eric Testerman responded to a motor vehicle crash at 6:40 p.m. near 1577 Fries Road in Galax.
“Witnesses told Testerman that a small white car crashed into the cinder block wall, the driver got out of the vehicle, checked the damage, and left traveling toward Fries,” the report said.
Evidence recovered at the scene led Testerman to 816 Hester Street in Fries, where Joseph Clinton Leonard, 42, was located and determined to be the operator of the vehicle at the time of the crash.
Leonard was arrested for driving under the influence (second offense within five years), reckless driving and hit-and-run with property damage over $1,000.
Leonard was transported to the New River Valley Regional Jail on a $2,500 secure bond.
