On Nov. 30, police responded to the Tobacco and Candle Outlet on East Stuart Drive after an employee discovered that someone had tried to break into the store.
Templeton was charged by Detective J.B. Greer and Capt. James Cox after information was gathered that identified him as a suspect, the police report said.
He is being held in the New River Valley Regional Jail pending his appearance in the Galax General District Court.
Two Hillsville juveniles have been petitioned to appear in Galax Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court and are alleged to have participated in the Valero burglary and the attempted burglary of the Tobacco and Candle Outlet.
Carroll Sheriff’s Office deputies issued additional charges against the suspects in connection with a burglary that occurred in the county.
Carroll Deputy Kevin Kemp has charged Templeton with two felonies: entering to commit assault and battery and being a principal in the second degree in a grand larceny; and two misdemeanors: destruction of property and contributing to the delinquency of a minor from a Nov. 30 incident in the county.
