Christopher D. Cecil, 23, of Galax has been charged with aggravated assault and burglary of a residence, according to the Galax Police Department.
Galax police were dispatched to a reported assault on West Grayson Street on March 4. The victim reported that he was awakened by a commotion in his home.
When the resident investigated, he allegedly was confronted by Cecil, who had forced his way into the home. The man told police that Cecil assaulted him, causing injuries that required the resident to be transported to North Carolina Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C..
During the course of the investigation, police determined that Cecil had been discovered in the victim’s home the night before, hiding in a closet. Cecil fled, stating that he was hiding from an unknown party who was looking for him.
Cecil is being held without bond in the New River Valley Regional Jail. The investigation was conducted by Galax Officer Chris Hines.
