Mabel Stone Thompson, 98, of Galax, Va., passed away Sunday, May 20, 2012, in the Waddell Nursing Home.

She was born in Galax, Va., on Sept. 22, 1913, to the late Dexter and Sally Fisher Stone.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, a past member of the Junior Woman’s Club, a talented artist and a friend to animals.

She was an avid traveler and had visited all 50 states.
