Little church making big difference

-A A +A

Asbury United Methodist Church dates back to at least 1817. The present-day church was built on Glendale Road in Galax about 1939.
The church has seen many changes over the years. Berylene Patton, a lifetime member, along with her husband, Mack, established a clothing and household closet prior to her death in 2004.
Recently, Mack and Berylene’s daughter, Karen Poole, along with several others have expanded the clothes/household closet and food pantry.
Asbury hopes to make a difference by joining other non‑profits in providing a helping hand to their neighbors in Galax and surrounding communities. Church members have been pleased thus far with response from the community.
Donations may be dropped off anytime at the front basement door or monetary donations for the food pantry may be mailed to Asbury United Methodist Church, 809 Glendale Road, Galax, Va. 24333, marked “Food Pantry.”
On June 24, the Rev. Don Wilson began as Asbury’s newly-appointed pastor. We invite the community to join us for worship on Sunday mornings.
Asbury hopes to be the “little” church that makes a “big” difference.
