Humane Society appreciates help

Twin County Humane Society would like to express its gratitude to The Hardware Company and everyone that helped make its first Pancake Breakfast for Man’s Best Friends a huge success.

It is because of caring animal lovers that we are able to continue to provide assistance to pet lovers in the Carroll, Grayson and Galax areas.

The money raised will help to fund spay/neuter assistance, school and community education programs and adoption services.

We realize that times are tough all around but you have shown us that the local community cares enough to contribute to causes that are near and dear.

In October, the society received grant funds from On Shore Foundation, Inc. of Malibu, Calif. On Shore gives grants primarily for animal welfare, wildlife preservation and environmental protection, and animal and human population control.

They request that the target population be senior citizens age 65 and older and the physically disabled.

With this grant we will be able to provide spay/neuter assistance for approximately 67 dogs and cats. Funds will be available beginning Jan. 1.

I appreciate all of the volunteers and board members that gave up their Saturday morning to help a new fundraising adventure become a success.

Without every one of you this could not have happened. Maybe this can become a yearly fundraising event.

Again, credit must be given to all that came out and supported the Humane Society.
