Late score lifts Cavaliers

HILLSVILLE –– Carroll County girls’ soccer coach Wayne Edmonds will have to hold on to that fiery pre-overtime speech he was working on for another time. Cynthia Arellano and Laken Hall laid it to waste.

Hall’s goal off of Arellano’s feed with about a minute left in regulation helped the Cavaliers avoid what looked like a certain overtime as Carroll County edged Marion 3-2 in the Southwest District tournament quarterfinals Monday at Tommy Thompson Field.
