INDEPENDENCE — A former Grayson County High School teacher and volunteer football coach was found not guilty in Grayson County Circuit Court last Friday of a felony charge of taking indecent liberties with a child, following a two-day trial.
Robert Eugene Pope of Elk Creek was charged Aug. 30, 2010. The alleged incident involved a student that was 17 years old at the time.
A jury of six men and six women deliberated 35 minutes before rendering their verdict of not guilty.
Pope testified in his own defense that the incident never happened.
