James Winston Gwyn. 68, of Independence, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, in the Twin County Regional Hospital.

He was born in Galax on April 28, 1943, to Charles Winston and Gretchen Rose Tucker Gwyn.

Survivors include his sister and brother-in-law, Lelia and William Nelson of Alexandria; brothers and sisters-in-law, Douglas and Charity Gwyn of Sparta, N.C., Thomas and Christine Gwyn of Kenosha, Wisc., and Dean Gwyn of Galax; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
