RICHMOND — Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries officials have released the name of the 50-year-old Fancy Gap man killed in a hunting accident on Tuesday.
Sansford Ray Semones was mistaken for a deer and shot by accident at 375 Willis Gap Road on private property, according to a report by Conservation Police Officer George Shupe. He was not wearing blaze orange.
A 13-year-old juvenile shot Semones from a distance of 159 yards after mistaking him for a deer, the report said.
