HILLSVILLE—Bassett used a 26 point second quarter to take a commanding lead en route to a 40-12 drubbing of Carroll County in a nondistrict game Friday at Tommy Thompson Field.
The Bengals (1-0) topped 350 yards on the ground through their triple option offense and kept the Cavaliers (0-1) on their heels throughout the entire game.
Bassett wasted no time taking the lead.
Taking over on their own 35-yard line, the Bengals pounded the ball time and time again as they thundered down the field for a score on the opening drive.
