HILLSVILLE — The years have ticked by since March 14, 1912, that fateful day when five people at the Carroll County Courthouse were mortally wounded at the conclusion of the trial of Floyd Allen.
Almost 100 years have passed since Allen — convicted of obstruction of justice and sentenced to jail — stood in the court and defied it.
"Gentlemen, I ain’t a-goin'" was his oft-repeated phrase.
