She was in a two-vehicle accident on Airport Road Thursday.

A 54-year-old Hillsville woman died last Friday after a wreck the day before on Airport Road, Virginia State Police confirm.
Martha Wade was transported by Carroll Fire Rescue to Twin County Regional Hospital after the two-vehicle accident near the intersection with Training Center Road at 5:24 p.m. on Sept. 27.
She was transferred to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, where she remained in critical and unstable condition until she died later on Sept. 28.
Trooper J.R. Alderman was looking into the possibility that the wreck might have been caused by a medical emergency with Wade.
The incident occurred when a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by Wade, crossed the center line near Airport Road’s intersection with Training Center Road.
That caused the Jeep to collide with a 1989 Ford Taurus, driven by Harold May of Woodlawn, that was southbound at the time. The Jeep overturned. Wade was not wearing a seatbelt.
State police received assistance at the scene from the Hillsville Police Department, Carroll Fire Rescue, Laurel Rescue Squad and Hillsville Fire Department.
