Hillsville man faces burglary, drug charges

HILLSVILLE — After picking up a subject wanted in connection with a Galax break-in, Carroll deputies also charged a 42-year-old Hillsville man with illegal drug violations, according to Sheriff Warren Manning.

Galax had issued warrants for Bobby Dwayne Thompson relating to the theft of tires and tools from Blue Ridge Tire, Manning said Monday.

Last Friday, Manning spotted Thompson on U.S. 58 in Woodlawn. The sheriff and deputies Mike Combs and Shannon Goad pulled over Thompson’s vehicle.

The deputies searched the vehicle and found methamphetamine and $7,200 in cash. As a result, the deputies charged Thompson with possession of a schedule II drug, possession and distribution of controlled paraphernalia, transporting a stun weapon, conspiring to enter Blue Ridge Tire in the night time, conspiracy to steal tires and tools valued at more than $200 from Blue Ridge Tire and being an accessory to entering in the nighttime at Blue Ridge Tire.
