Highlanders pull away from Maroon Tide

 SALEM –– Glenvar broke open a close game by controlling the fourth quarter and knocked off Galax 61-45 in a nondistrict boys’ basketball game Wednesday.

Galax (0-4) trailed just 40-38 entering the fourth period but the Highlanders (7-1) got a combined 16 points from Tyler Crockett and Jeremy Williams in the fourth quarter to outscore the Maroon Tide 21-7 down the stretch.

Williams led all scorers with 17 points for Glenvar and Crockett finished with 16.

Galax was paced by Steven Peoples with 16 points.
