BOYS BASKETBALL
Galax 84, Narrows 81
Galax was taken to extra play twice by key shots from Narrows, but survived one of its toughest road games of the year Friday, finally winning 84-81 in double overtime.
David Thompson’s bucket for the Green Wave (6-7 overall, 1-2 district) with eight seconds left in regulation sent the two teams into overtime tied at 64-64, and Derrick Reed nailed a 3-pointer at the buzzer to knot the score at 74 apiece at the end of the first overtime.
Galax (8-3, 2-0) outscored Narrows 10-7 in the second OT to pull off the win.
