Giles 44, Galax 56
Galax stormed ahead from a one-point deficit to open the fourth quarter and ran away with a 56-44 nondistrict win over Giles in a girls’ game Monday in Galax.
Trailing 32-31 after the third period, Galax got 10 fourth-quarter points from Caci Higgins and eight more from Piper Caudell on the strength of 6-for-6 shooting from the foul line to outscore the Spartans 25-12 down the stretch.
Higgins and Caudell each finished with 16 points for Galax (6-10). Jamie Webb added eight points and 11 assists.
Giles (3-11) got 17 points from Kelsey Frazier.

Narrows 74, Grayson County 60
Coach Todd Lusk recorded his 200th career win Monday as the Green Wave took down the Blue Devils in a Mountain Empire District game in Independence.
Narrows (7-8, 3-2 district) jumped to a five-point lead after the first quarter, leading 38-25 at halftime and 58-41 after three quarters.
Adam Morris (19 points), Derrick Reed (18) and David Thompson (15) led Narrows offensively.
Grayson County (2-14, 1-4) got 14 points from Justin Rutherford.
JV – Narrows 51-41.
