The high ground of morality

My wife and I and another couple had a 10-year ritual of a Friday evening meal at a local eating establishment. We got to be good friends with the owners.
I fondly recall those rendezvous, especially after losing my wife to extended illness this past spring.
Another couple asked me to accompany them to this diner last week. One of the owners came over to greet us and informed me that Walter Bell died the previous week.
