George Hendricks carded a hole-in-one on Aug. 3 while playing in the hospital league at Galax Municipal Golf Course.
Hendricks, a biomedical engineer at Twin County Regional Hospital, recorded his hole-in-one on the par-4 eighth hole, which measures 295 yards. Hendricks had driven the green on No. 8 a few weeks earlier and said before the shot that he was going for the green again. He watched his drive roll onto the green and saw his ball disappear. Hendricks' playing partner, Ken Horton, walked up to the green and peered into the hole, seeing the ball.
Hendricks put the ball in his pocket and declared that he would never hit it again.
It was the first hole-in-one for Hendricks, who has been playing for 10 years.
