Harmon tabbed new Maroon Tide volleyball coach

 Longtime assistant and junior varsity coach Onnie Harmon has been announced as the new varsity volleyball coach at Galax, replacing Rose Houk, who retired this fall after 31 seasons.

Harmon, 57, has been with the Maroon Tide program since 1988, serving as a varsity assistant until after the 2002 season. Taking a one-year respite in 2003, Harmon said he missed coaching too much and returned to the Galax program in 2004 as the head JV coach, where he has remained until his elevation last week to the varsity post.
