Guild's new play gets audience involved

'Smoke on the Mountain' puts theater-goers in the congregation of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in the 1930s.

“Smoke on the Mountain,” a hilarious musical play that takes place in the sanctuary of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in North Carolina during the Depression years of the late 1930s, will be performed by the Galax Theatre Guild Saturdays, Oct. 2 and 9 at 7:30 p.m., and Sundays, Oct. 3 and 10 at 2:30 p.m. at the Rex Theater in downtown Galax.

A pre-show will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturdays and 7 p.m. on Sundays.
Tickets are available for $8 at the Galax Visitor Center, Walters Drug Store in Independence and the visitors' center in Hillsville.
Groups of 15 or more can receive $1 off tickets.
