Two Grayson County men were killed in separate accidents last week, and both died after being pinned under vehicles.
On the afternoon of June 26, Earl Bronson Cornett, 70, was mowing his yard on Gem Stream Road in Elk Creek.
According to a report by Sgt. Arnold Peters of the Grayson County Sheriff's Department, Cornett was mowing a steep bank when his tractor went over a wall, trapping him under it.
According to the report, an EMT was on the scene in four minutes and found no pulse.
The Elk Creek Volunteer Fire Department and Elk Creek Rescue Squad assisted at the scene.
At about 12:30 a.m. on June 27, Virginia State Trooper Cameron Keesling said he was dispatched to an area near the Long Cabin Restaurant in Volney after a man's body was found under his Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck.
Keesling said William "Buck" Pugh, 75, had apparently gotten out of the truck and it rolled backwards, pinning him underneath.
Keesling said the family was looking for Pugh when his son found him under the truck. He died at the scene.
The investigation is continuing, pending a state medical examiner's report.
