Grayson drills Green Wave

 NARROWS –– Grayson County fell behind early but roared back with 48 unanswered points and rolled over Narrows 54-14 in a Mountain Empire District game Friday at Ragsdale Field.

Following a 7-yard Tyler Conley run for the Green Wave (2-7 overall, 1-2 MED), Grayson County used three Xavier Rodriguez scoring runs to jump out to a 20-6 lead. Rodriguez scored on carries of 4, 41 and 8 yards for Grayson, which added an 11-yard Eric Harvey touchdown catch and a 45-yard interception for a score by Zack Vaughan to take a 35-6 lead into the half.

Darren Anderson had touchdown runs of 20 and 42 yards in the third quarter for Grayson County and Spencer Roberts added a 9-yard scoring run in the fourth for the Blue Devils (5-4, 2-1).

Grayson County racked up 424 yards of total offense, including 297 yards on the ground. Anderson carried eight times for 94 yards and Rodriguez added 78 yards on six rushes.

Ethan Hash connected on 8-of-11 passing for 127 yards, hitting Harvey six times for 110 yards.

Narrows was led by Conley, who had 100 yards on 11 rushing attempts.

Grayson County, which is still alive in the Region C Division 2 payoff hunt, will try to secure a tie for the MED championship Friday when it travels to Fort Chiswell.
