Grayson County grand jury issues indictments

In addition to several drug charges, a N.C. man is charged with embezzling from a local company

INDEPENDENCE — A Mount Airy, N.C., man has been indicted on embezzlement charges by a Grayson County Circuit Court grand jury that convened July 24.
Several sealed indictments were opened recently, one of which included formal charges against Leonard John Ellis on two counts of embezzling more than $200 from Carolina Profiles.
He was also indicted on one count of money laundering.
An indictment indicates that a grand jury found sufficient evidence for a case to go to trial, and does not indicate guilt. All of those indicted are innocent until proven guilty.
Other indictments opened included:
• Julian Drew Griffith of Fries — sale-gift-possession of a schedule II controlled substance (amphetamine); possession of a schedule II controlled substance (morphine); possession of schedule II controlled substances (amphetamine and morphine).
• Robin Foxwell Griffith of Fries — sale-gift-possession of a schedule II controlled substance (amphetamine); possession of a schedule II controlled substance (morphine); possession of schedule II controlled substances (amphetamine and morphine).
• Linnie Ray Newman of Galax — sale-gift-distribution of a schedule II controlled substance (vicodin).
• Lisa Diane Williams of Galax — two counts of sale-gift-distribution of a schedule III controlled substance (subutex).
 • Timothy Eric Clontz of Fries — sale-gift-distribution of a schedule II controlled substance (methamphetamine).
• Rebecca Sue Harris of Fries — sale-gift-distribution of a schedule II controlled substance (methamphetamine).
• Ricky Lee Glass of Fries — two counts for the sale-gift-distribution of a schedule II controlled substance (methamphetamine); abuse or child neglect.
• Donna Jordan Johnson of Fries — sale-gift-distribution of a schedule II controlled substance (methamphetamine); abuse or child neglect.
• William Eugene Armstrong Jr. of Mouth of Wilson — sale-gift-distribution of a schedule II controlled substance (methamphetamine).
