INDEPENDENCE — Grayson leaders are looking to work with the towns of Independence and Fries to seek acceptance into Virginia's Enterprise Zone Program.
County Administrator Jonathan Sweet attended Independence town council's regular meeting Aug. 11 to talk about the program.
Sweet said the program — which was established by the General Assembly in 1982 — is a partnership between state and local governments in which both parties seek to improve economic conditions within a targeted area of distress.
