Grand jury issues 180 indictments

HILLSVILLE — Three Twin County residents face charges of embezzlement from a local store and obtaining Virginia Lottery money by false pretenses, according to indictments issued by the Carroll County grand jury Monday.

The indictments name Holly Dawn Kelley of Fancy Gap and Carolyn Kaye Lane and Amy Carrico Roberts, both of Galax, in connection with January 2009 incidents at Blue Ridge Tobacco and Candle in Galax, the court documents state.

Charges against all three include:

• one count of obtaining money by false pretenses from the Virginia Lottery Commission

• one count of conspiracy to embezzle from Blue Ridge Blue Ridge Tobacco and Candle

• and 13 counts of embezzlement from Blue Ridge Tobacco and Candle.

The charges stem from an investigation by the Galax Police Department.

An indictment is only a formal charge, not a finding of guilt.

The grand jury issued 180 indictments Monday.

Another 26 indictments were sealed by the court until warrants could be served against those named in the charges.

Others indicted included:

• Levi Cole Roberts — statutory burglary (two counts) from Gladeville School and from Mount Rogers Health Department; unauthorized use of a Carroll County Public Schools 2006 Freightliner school bus and destruction of property belonging to the health department

• Jeannie May Jennings — embezzlement from Subway of Hillsville (two counts)

• Chad Andrew Bond — manufacture of marijuana

• Melody Justice Bond — hit and run

• Joseph Dale Brown, burglary and two counts of grand larceny from Jean Oates and Jerry Lee Cox

• Tracy Allen Brown — possession of methamphetamine, a schedule II drug

• James Scott Byrd — possession of a schedule II drug with the intent to distribute

• Billy Dean Caldwell — statutory burglary (three counts) from Beaver Dam Storage; grand larceny (three counts) from William R. Kessler, Pike Electric and Melody Schaeffer

• Dawn Marie Cooke — shoplifting, third offense

• Curtis Lee Crotts Jr. — eluding a law enforcement officer

• Oliver Leon Delp — possession of a firearm after being convicted of a felony

• Tara Lynn Drehs — assault and battery on a police officer D.E. Dixon

• Joseph Donald Edwards — burglary from the home of James Kirk

• Sarah Lynn Edwards — abuse and neglect of a child

• Geraldine Mae Geddes — bad check

• Joseph Walker Guynn — failing to register as a sex offender

• Verlin Dean Hall Jr. — grand larceny of a 1996 Chevy Camaro, belonging to Michael Dean and Ashleigh E. Utt.

• Brent Allen Hammond — grand larceny from Eldon Painter

• Richard Justin Howser — embezzlement from Radio Shack

• Rachel Marie Jackson — receiving stolen property

• Betty Marie Jenkins — forgery of a public document (three counts)

• Aaron Steven Johnson — failing to register as a sex offender

• Tracy Lynn Jones — failing to register as a sex offender

• Alfred Ray Lemons — credit card fraud; fraudulent conversion of leased property belonging to Horizon Equipment Rental

• Dennis Lee Lyalls — shoplifting

• Stephanie Latasha McKinney — credit card fraud (two counts), credit card theft (two counts), forgery (six counts), uttering (six counts)

• Linnie Keaton Newman — manufacture of marijuana

• Brian D. Norman — statutory burglary from Hillbilly Mini Storage (two counts); attempted grand larceny (two counts)

• Amanda Jill Paredes — statutory burglary from the home of Allison Isom; grand larceny

• Megan Leigh Pascale — assault and battery on a police officer, J.D. Quesenberry

• Jorge Miranda Ramos — statutory burglary from Country Convenience Store (two counts)

• Tamara Nicole Ravenell — malicious wounding of Jennifer Patterson

• Patrick Michael Reagan — statutory burglary (six counts) and grand larceny (four counts) and possession of a firearm after being convicted of a violent felony (four counts)

• Daniel Lee Smith — grand larceny from Eldon Painter

• Sherry Lynne Stratton — shoplifting third offense

• Joey Allan Testerman — shoplifting

• Lincoln Lee Tobler — driving under the influence of alcohol

• Marques Tyrell Valentine — possession of meth

• Jon Willis Vaughan — manufacture of marijuana

• Nathan Willard Wagner — statutory burglary from Rose’s, grand larceny and destruction of property

• Melisa Bobbitt Whited — forgery and uttering (two counts each) and obtaining money by false pretenses

• Rhonda Lynn Atkins — obtaining money by false pretenses

• Herbert Gray Bedwell — statutory burglary and two counts of grand larceny from the home of Barbara Cortese

• Noah Clayton Coble — carnal knowledge of a child age 14 without force

• Amy Lynn Cox — petit larceny third offense

• Jennifer Lea Foore — attempted malicious wounding again Brad Barker

• Robert William Fuzy — statutory burglary and grand larceny from the home of Barbara Cortese

• Harold Edward Keith — distribution of Oxycontin a schedule II drug; distribution of Lyrica, a schedule V drug

• Randy Lee King — maliciously discharge a firearm at an occupied dwelling upon the evidence of Donna Nester; discharge a firearm in a public place (two counts)

• Holly Lynn Lineberry — abuse and neglect of a child

• Regina Lynn Lineberry — embezzlement less than $200,000 for embezzling money from Subway of Hillsville

• Karen Patricia Mills — forgery (five counts); obtaining money by false pretenses from James Mills (five counts); uttering (five counts)

• Brandi Dawn Radtke — statutory burglary from the home of Barbara Cortese, grand larceny

• Susan Ann Robinson — driving while intoxicated, third offense within 10 years

• Aaron Jerome Smith — petit larceny, third offense
