ABINGDON — A 42-year-old Galax man will serve more than six years in federal prison on a gun charge.
Joe Jackson Gambill was indicted by a federal grand jury in April 2010 for possession of a firearm as a convicted felon.
The charge arose from a traffic stop and sobriety check in August 2009.
Gambill was found guilty by a jury in U.S. District Court in Abingdon in August 2010, and he was sentenced Dec. 28, 2010, to serve 78 months in prison at a facility in Beckley, W.Va.
