Felony child abuse charges result from children's proximity to methamphetamine.

By Staff Reports

Shadaleigh Jean Davis, 23, of Galax faces multiple charges from a March 15 arrest, according to Galax Police Chief Rick Clark.
On the offense date, Galax Police responded to a Galax residence along with representatives from the Galax Department of Social Services, to investigate alleged child endangerment, Clark said.
A search of the residence found narcotics (methamphetamine), paraphernalia and U.S. currency. These findings were seized by the officers on the scene.
Officer Drew Burnett charged Davis with possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was also charged with three counts of felony child abuse, due to the proximity of the narcotics to the children living in the home, Clark said.
Davis was sent to the New River Valley Regional Jail pending an appearance in Galax General District Court.
