Galax enjoyed a laugher and endured a squeaker, but came away with a pair of wins by sweeping Graham 16-1 and 1-0 in a Mountain Empire District baseball double header Thursday at Felts Park.

Dante Ravenell continued to ride a power surge that has seen him hit three home runs in the span of a week. Ravenell belted a three-run homer and added a two-run double to pace Galax to the blowout win in the opener, which was stopped after four innings on the 10-run rule.

Austin Pack and Jon Alouf collected two hits each for the Maroon Tide while Travis Cockerham held Graham to five hits, striking out six to get the win.

Any suspense that was lacking in the first game was made up for in the nightcap as Galax managed just two hits off of Graham starting pitcher Gray Baker and needed a suicide squeeze to push across the game’s only run. Justin Ayers got the game-winning RBI by bunting home Cockerham in the fourth inning.

Eddie Hanks picked up the win on the mound, blanking the G-Men on four hits, striking out seven. Baker fanned nine Maroon Tide batters.

Pulaski County 11, Grayson County 5: The Blue Devils aided the Cougars with six errors, dropping a nondistrict game Tuesday at Calfee Park.

Tyler Frazier pitched five innings to get the win and went 2-for-4 at the plate for Pulaski County, which answered a three-run Grayson rally by scoring five runs in the bottom of the inning. Jacob Tabor also had two hits for the Cougars and Daniel Crawford had a pair of RBIs for Grayson County.

Marion 8, Carroll County 0: Vilo Garcia scored five goals and Isaac Glass tacked on two goals as the Scarlet Hurricane pounded the Cavaliers in a Southwest District match.
