BASTIAN -- Galax sophomore Jordan Vaughan carried 25 times for 185 yards and Galax used a quick start to roll past Bland County 20-6 in a Mountain Empire District game Friday.
Vaughan scored two first-quarter touchdowns, on runs of 4 and 6 yards, as the Maroon Tide (2-7 overall, 1-2 district) jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead. Defending MED champion Bland County (2-8, 0-4) cut the margin to a touchdown on Aaron Blankenship’s 20-yard reception from Dylan Kidd in the second period, but Galax held the Bears in check the rest of the night.
