Much of Galax City Council’s Nov. 26 meeting was spent examining ways Galax has improved economically and in tourism over the last several years. Tourism Director Ray Kohl reported that the city has been awarded two plaques at recent conferences and that more tourism opportunities in Galax are on the horizon.
In a Spring Home and Garden trade show in Charlotte, N.C., last year, Galax was awarded a third-place plaque for its booth exhibit, behind only the first-place state of Georgia and second-place West Virginia. Kohl said there were more than 300 booths at the event.
