A 70-year-old Fries man on a moped, entering Virginia 94 traffic, pulled out in front of another vehicle Monday, causing a fatal accident, according to Virginia State Police.
The report by Trooper C.W. Keesling identified the man as James Allen Lineberry of 340 Quarry Road.
At the time of the accident, Lineberry was operating a 2011 VIP moped at about 4:10 p.m. when he pulled out of a parking lot of a garage near Brush Creek Road.
The moped, going about 10 mph, pulled into the path of a 1999 Subaru Outback, driven north bound by Patricia Ann Royal of Ivanhoe Road.
She was unable to stop in time and the Subaru collided with the moped.
Witnesses at the scene confirmed this series of events to the trooper.
Lineberry was transported to Twin County Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
