FRIES — A four-year battle for permanent authority for U.S. Cellular to operate a tower in Fries is officially over.
According to a document adopted by the Federal Communications Commission on June 22, all petitions to deny the cell phone company operation were dismissed.
The issue has been ongoing since 2005, when U.S. Cellular installed the tower without filing necessary paper work with the Virginia Department of Historic Resources.
