INDEPENDENCE — A former Grayson County deputy sheriff was indicted on 14 sex-related charges last Friday by a Grayson County Circuit Court grand jury.
Shane Alan Widner, 33, was a sergeant when he was fired Jan. 13 by the sheriff’s department. He has been held in the New River Valley Regional Jail in Dublin since his arrest.
Widner was indicted on two counts of rape, four counts of aggravated sexual battery, four counts of animate object sexual penetration, three counts of indecent liberties and one count of attempted inanimate object sexual penetration.
According to the indictments, the charges involved a girl under age 13.
An indictment indicates that a grand jury found evidence for a case to go to trial, and does not indicate guilt.
Other indictments included:
• Jason Lee Wroten — arson. He is accused of maliciously burning an unoccupied dwelling on the property of the estate of Oscar Lee Young and burglary of the Young property.
• Ricardo Lopez-Zuniga — possession of a schedule II controlled substance; possession of a firearm while also possessing a schedule 2 controlled substance (meth); two counts of possession of a firearm by an alien.
• Eddie Dale Privett — possession of a firearm after being convicted of a felony.
• Dawn Marie Cooke — possession of a schedule II controlled substance (meth); shoplifting, third offense.
• Arlene Dixon Hamm — shoplifting, third offense.
• Paula Wood — unauthorized use of a vehicle; grand larceny of property from Harry Cox.
• Adam Chase Jones — grand larceny of an ATV from Lester Pauley.
• Robert Stephen Neal — grand larceny of an ATV from Lester Pauley.
• Arlin James Anders — conspiracy to commit grand larceny with another party of a 1996 Yamaha 350cc Warrior ATV from Lester Pauley.
• Ronald Dean Taylor — possession with intent to manufacture or sell a schedule I or schedule II drug (meth).
• Joseph Andrew Ward — unlawful wounding of Stacy Ward.
• Wesley Keith Wall — giving false statement on consent form; possession of a firearm after being convicted of a felony.
• James Wendell Thompson Jr. — failure to register as a sex offender.
• Darlene Louise Hudson — possession of a firearm after being convicted of a felony; transportation of 1 oz. of a schedule I or schedule II drug in the Commonwealth (oxycodone); possession of a schedule II controlled substance.
• Quiller Lewis Dixon — statutory burglary of property owned by Maria Gravely; grand larceny of tools, jewelry, electronic equipment from Maria Gravely.
• Misty Michelle Dixon — statutory burglary of property owned by Maria Gravely; grand larceny of tools, jewelry, electronic equipment from Maria Gravely.
• Steven Hudson — possession of a firearm after being convicted of a felony.
• Walter Kent Newman — possession of a schedule I or schedule II controlled substance.
• Kimberly Ann Edwards — conspiracy to sell, give or distribute a schedule I or schedule II controlled substance (meth).
There were several sealed indictments that will be opened once arrests have been made.
