Former Carroll sheriff Dick Carrico dies

WOODLAWN — Former Carroll Sheriff Richard “Dick” Carrico, 71, died at his home in Woodlawn on Tuesday.
Carrico served as a trooper with the Virginia State Police and as the Carroll sheriff for two terms for a total of 28 years in law enforcement, according to those who worked with him at the sheriff’s office.
Carrico left his coworkers with lots of memories of their time together.
