INDEPENDENCE — After nearly a year and half of trying, Independence has been named the home of Virginia’s official Grand Privy Race.

House joint resolution Number 76, agreed to by the House of Delegates on Jan. 18 and the Senate on Feb. 26, officially recognizes the Town of Independence for its annual outhouse race.
