Virginia has seen a significant increase in gun sales following the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings in Connecticut on Dec. 14.
In fact, the Virginia State Police received 4,166 criminal background check requests for gun sales a day after the shooting, which is said to be the highest volume that the agency has received since background checks were implemented in 1989.
