ABINGDON — A 63-year-old Troutdale man will spend four years of his life in a federal prison for possessing weapons as a convicted felon.
Jerry Melvin Jenkins appeared in U.S. District Court in Abingdon on Aug. 30 after having entered a guilty plea to a single count of possessing firearms and ammunition.
This comes after Jenkins had been previously "convicted of a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year and while being an unlawful user of and addicted to a controlled substance," according to the indictment.
