The Twin County E-911 Regional Commission on Tuesday announced the appointment of Jolena Young as the new E-911 Regional Coordinator.
Young will succeed Eddie Hines, who is retiring April 30. Hines has been with the commission since 2002.
The new coordinator will begin working part-time in March and move into the position full-time in April.
Young is a native and resident of Carroll County and has worked for Nortel, Quintiles Inc., Glaxco Wellcome Inc, and Price Waterhouse LLP. She has held various positions in audit, finance and information systems.
Young has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and information systems from Virginia Tech.
“I look forward to working with regional services for sheriff, police, fire and rescue departments to continue providing 24/7 E-911 service to Carroll, Galax and Grayson citizens and businesses,” the new coordinator said in a press release.
Junior Young — no relation — chairman of the Twin County E-911 Regional Commission, said the commission wants “to continue serving the people with the best emergency response system possible.”
He said Hines “has truly been an asset to the regional 911 system. We have confidence that Ms. Young will provide talents and abilities that will continue great service to our area.”
