Driver leads police on chase

A man, who was allegedly driving recklessly on South Main Street in Galax, led police on a chase into Alleghany County, N.C., on Monday afternoon.

After crashing on Glade Valley Road, at the intersection of Barrett Road, in Alleghany County, Jonathan Scott Eggert, 25, of Grandview Drive, Sparta, N.C., was arrested and will be charged in Virginia with DUI, reckless driving, eluding police, leaving the scene of the accident and property damage for striking a stop sign at U.S. 58 and West Stuart Drive in Galax.
