WOODLAWN —A 28-year-old Baywood man who allegedly led a Virginia State Police trooper on a short chase Sept. 10 faces a number of traffic and felony charges from the incident.
Trooper J.R. Alderman, while patrolling on U.S. 58 in the Woodlawn area at about 8:20 p.m., observed a vehicle traveling about 80 mph.
Alderman attempted to pull it over, but the 2008 Dodge Caliber kept going eastbound and turned left on Airport Road, the trooper said.
Continuing on, the suspect passed several vehicles on a double solid yellow line. The Caliber sideswiped a 2006 Ford Expedition before finally coming to a stop not far from Coulson Church Road.
Alderman charged Jamie Bowman, 28, of Baywood with driving under the influence, felony eluding police, hit and run, speeding (80 in a 55 mph zone), passing on a double solid yellow line and reckless driving.
