HILLSVILLE — Carroll deputies continued to investigate a double shooting in Hillsville Wednesday morning that left two with wounds to their legs.
The incident took place at 71 Lily Lane at about 2:47 a.m. Wednesday, according to Sheriff Warren Manning.
Injured were Robin McCraw, 49, of the home and William Nathaniel Robinson, 17.
Robinson was staying with McCraw, whom Manning said is Robinson’s aunt.
Both Robinson and McCraw had a gunshot wound to the leg.
McCraw was taken to Twin County Regional Hospital, where she was admitted, the sheriff said. Robinson was taken on to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C., for treatment because the bullet hit a bone.
It looked like the wounds were caused by a small-caliber firearm, Manning said, possibly a .22- or .32-caliber.
Though Robinson has made statements about the incident to deputies, the investigators still have many questions about it, the sheriff said.
“Everything the boy’s telling us is not adding up,” Manning said. “There’s some things we’re still working out.”
Deputies will look into whether the incident is drug-related, the sheriff said.
Deputies were assisted by the Hillsville Police Department and the Virginia State Police.
