Cox faces grand larceny charge

HILLSVILLE — A 28-year-old Galax man has been charged with grand larceny from Pipers Gap on April 20, according to Carroll Sheriff Warren Manning.
Brandon Scott Cox faces charges for allegedly taking a 2004 Jeep Wrangler. The Galax Police Department recovered the vehicle the same day it was taken.
Cox fled on foot when he was approached by law enforcement, according to information from the sheriff’s office. He was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit by Galax officers.
Other items, including tools, were missing from the vehicle, deputies say.
Deputy Mark Dickerson investigated the case and charged Cox with grand larceny, destruction of property and possession of a firearm as a convicted felon, according to the news release.
Cox is being held at the New River Valley Regional Jail.
